Mariquitas translates to ‘ladybugs’ in English. MARIQUITA as a title, is a reclamation from it’s old use to shame people for being queer and/or showing non-machismo behavior (biggest use in Spain). The use of ‘ita/ito’ in Spanish is a reference to something small, but also something you show affection towards.
The color version is super vibrant, at the same time the xerox version has some differences, a drawing of mitsu the rat and a shout-out page. They will also come with a lil love note from me. ♡

My last ‘proof’ that I ever worked in color. It’s an acrylic painting on paper that was gessoed on both sides so it’s sturdy! Ben Sifel modelled for me, and it was for an illustration assignment. Like always failed as an illustration but works as a painting!
The back of the painting has my first draft of Ben’s face, which is funny when I look at it now
