Spring of 2011, Nicole Rodrigues and I made a book collaboration
We illustrated each others stories. She did three stories from my memories from Queens and I focused on one from her time in Portigual.
In order:
Genesis, Linocut
Nicole, Linocut and Chine-Collé
Nicole, Etching and Chine Collé
Nicole, 2 layers, etching and drypoint.
Genesis, Linocut
El Divino Niño (hollowed)
Lithograph on a sliver screenprinted flat
2012
Growing up there was the roach infested Flushing apartment and I was forced to attend Saint Michael’s Roman Catholic Church every sunday along with sunday school. The Divino Niño decorated my colombian family’s house, and most had the image in their wallets.
The small statues of the young Jesus they had were always hollow and fragile.

Born and raised in Queens, NY and currently live in Baltimore,MD. I hope to travel as much as my mind wanders. Graduated with a BFA in illustration, yet found solace in drawing and printmaking. Drawing is the medium of observation, and line has always been the best way for me to display a message.
I dive into new works with an art historical influences in hand and potential social influence in mind.
I’m in the foundation stages of a project about art houses, punk houses, cooperative houses, artist collectives and the like. If you are part of one, or know of any, please send me a message: gencrespo@gmail.com
